What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, is a globally accepted English language testing system for non-native English speakers. It is administered jointly by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge English.

IELTS is accepted by over 3,000 academic institutions in Australia, Britain, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and United States: as also by various professional organizations across the globe. In 2018, over 3.5 million tests were taken in more than 140 nations, IELTS being one of the most popular tests in Canada, that covers high stakes for English language testing systems.

Both IELTS Academic and IELTS General serve as a valid proof for the English proficiency of the candidates who wish to proceed for UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) formalities. The IELTS report or Score Card awards all test takers with a band, ranging from 1 to 9, based on their linguistic skills, where Band 1 signifies a “non-user” and Band 9 signifies an expert user of the English language..
